Which laboratory values are measured?

‍Total testosteroneTotal testosterone (TDP) is the total amount of testosterone in the blood, including protein-bound and free testosterone. Low or high TDP levels can indicate various health problems, including hormonal imbalances, pituitary gland disorders, or testicular problems.

‍SHBGSHBG is a protein that binds sex hormones, particularly testosterone, in the blood and regulates their bioavailability. An imbalance in SHBG can affect the effects of testosterone and thus impair sexual function, muscle mass, and overall energy levels in men.

‍Free testosterone (calculated)This value indicates the amount of unbound testosterone that is directly active in the body. Free testosterone is crucial for many bodily functions and provides information about the actual availability of testosterone to the cells. The value is calculated based on the total testosterone and SHBG levels.

‍LH (Luteinizing Hormone)LH is crucial for testosterone production in the testicles. An LH imbalance can lead to fertility and sexual function problems. The test can indicate possible causes of a reduced sperm count or low testosterone levels.

‍albuminAlbumin is a protein also involved in transporting testosterone in the bloodstream. While less specific than SHBG, changes in albumin levels can still affect the amount of free, active testosterone in the body. An albumin test can also help identify liver or kidney disease, as well as conditions of malnutrition.

PSA:The PSA level is a specific marker for prostate health and helps to detect potential prostate diseases early. An elevated or low level can indicate various conditions, including inflammation, benign enlargement, or, in rare cases, prostate cancer. The value helps determine whether transdermal therapy (TRT) could be performed to improve prostate health.

Your optional doctor's consultation

After receiving your lab results, you have the option to book a 30-minute video consultation with one of our independent German partner doctors to discuss your lab results and treatment options (e.g., testosterone replacement therapy). The consultation costs approximately €90-100.

Follow-up consultations with doctors lasting 15 minutes during the course of therapy cost approximately €60-70 (usually necessary every three months).

Blood tests are necessary to consider replacement therapy.

With our test kit, you can take a blood sample at home, which is then analyzed in our partner laboratory. The following values are determined: total testosterone, free testosterone (calculated), LH, SHBG, and albumin. The PSA level, a marker for your prostate health, is also included.

Once your results are available, you have the option to discuss them in a paid consultation with one of our independent partner physicians . The physicians will then decide independently whether a therapy (e.g., TRT) is appropriate for you.
