1. Testosterone test

Frequently asked questions before purchasing an initial test
This module provides a comprehensive overview of the hormone testosterone. You will learn about its functions in the body, how and where it is produced, and which factors influence its production. We will also examine its regulation by the brain and its interactions with other molecules. By the end of this module, you will have a better understanding of why testosterone is so important for hormonal balance and overall health.

What tests are available and how do you find the right one?
We offer a variety of testing packages. From a compact TRT check to a comprehensive health check, we have it all. The smaller tests focus on testosterone, while the more comprehensive ones also include other health markers such as liver function and inflammation levels. All tests provide a medical assessment to help determine potential treatment options.

Here's how to perform your test correctly.
Perform the test in the morning, on an empty stomach, and when you are as healthy as possible. Drink water beforehand and warm your hands to improve blood flow. Fill all tubes as completely as possible. Send the sample to the post office on the same day and register it using the link you received by email. You do not need to pause any dietary supplements or ongoing TRT, but you should mention them to your doctor.
2. Understand the initial test result and your further options

What your blood test really tells you and why a doctor's appointment might be useful
Your blood test shows important values, but it doesn't replace a medical assessment. Even with normal results, therapy may be beneficial if you're experiencing symptoms like fatigue, loss of libido, or lack of motivation. A doctor can help you understand your results in context and plan the next steps.

How our partner doctors interpret your test result and why the AMS questionnaire is helpful
Our doctors always evaluate your blood test results in the context of your symptoms and goals. Especially with borderline results, a consultation with your doctor helps to identify the true need for action. The AMS questionnaire helps to highlight typical symptoms. Only in a consultation does the data become a sound medical assessment.
3. Doctor's appointment - booking, procedure and what you should know

booking
After the blood test, the next step is a consultation with the doctor. You can book your appointment here. An initial test from Adon Health or an external lab test, no more than three months old, is required. It must include total testosterone, free testosterone, SHBG, albumin, LH, and PSA. Before your appointment, you will need to complete three documents: a treatment agreement, a personal data sheet, and a medical history questionnaire. You can reschedule your appointment up to 48 hours in advance. A cancellation fee will apply for short-notice cancellations or no-shows.

Sequence
The doctor's consultation will take place as a 30-minute video call. You will receive a personal access link beforehand. Your lab results, symptoms, any pre-existing conditions, and whether treatment is appropriate will be discussed. Honesty is important, even regarding self-treatment. This is the only way the doctor can make an informed decision. Follow-up consultations usually last 15 minutes. If you require more extensive consultation, you can book a longer appointment at any time.

pay
The doctor's consultation is billed according to the German fee schedule for physicians. You will receive the invoice directly from your doctor via email. Payment is possible by bank transfer or credit card. Discounts are not available, as this is an individual medical service. The cost depends solely on the consultation, not on whether you have taken a test at Adon.
4. Initiation and course of testosterone replacement therapy

Start of therapy
Your treatment begins after your consultation with the doctor. You can choose whether to have your prescription sent directly to a mail-order pharmacy or fill it yourself. The therapy is based on a private prescription. Contraindications such as prostate cancer or fertility will be clarified beforehand. The effects usually become noticeable after two to three weeks. Switching between gel and injection is possible at any time.

Course and checks
The first check-up appointment takes place approximately one month after the start of therapy. Follow-up appointments and prescriptions are only issued after consultation with the doctor. A lab test is performed every three months, which you can order in advance via the patient portal. Therapy cannot continue without current test results. You can book an appointment at any time if you have any questions.

Medical certificate
If you're traveling and want to take your medication with you, your doctor can issue you a medical certificate. For travel within Germany, you usually don't need a certificate. For international travel, you should apply for one about two weeks in advance. It includes the diagnosis, medication, and dosage. The cost is approximately 5 to 10 euros. Alternatively, a prescription is often sufficient in other EU countries.
